Activity 1:
21st June
It was the first Nature Club meeting of the academic year 2012-2013. There was an interesting presentation by a WWF team consisting of Mr. Deepak, field researcher, educational officer, Mr. swami and Mr. Amardeep, WWF volunteers.
               
             The presentation informed us of the various species of birds, ways to recognise the various types of their species, eating habits, migration cycle and also a shocking estimate of their dwindling numbers. This was followed by an oath ceremonyto do their bit towards conserving the environment. 
 
10th july
The second meeting of the Nature Club, was centred on the occasion of 'Van Mahotsav'. The final aspect of the meeting was the account of general observations and estimates regarding the schools consumption of resources. This was to make Nasr an 'ECHO-SCHOOL' as a part of the 'Greening With Goethe' initiative towards conservation of the environment, taken up by Nasr students.
Activity 2 :

VAN MAHOTSAV 2013

Van Mahotsav is an annual tree planting festival in India celebrated in the first week of July. It is celebrated very enthusiastically in Nasr.

Students are encouraged to express their concept of what they feel should be today's clean world, what they deem as the problems that plague the existing environment and what according to them should be done. They project these concepts through the medium of inter house collage competitions.

Activity 3:
16th October
Nature Club's senior member, i.e. students from classes 9 to 12 visited the 'Biodiversity Express', at the Secunderabad station.
            The express had 12 compartments, which explored the various biomes of India, from deserts to the ocean. They, very elaborately, depicted India's wealth in species of plants and animals through pictures, microscopes, fact files and short activity-based challenges. At the end of each compartment, a fact regarding the rapidly increasing numbers, of those species, on the verge of extinction, were stated, shocking the girls. The wonderful display, in its last compartment, had important facts regarding the efforts that need to be put in to conserve the environment that we live in. The express visits every major city in India, educating and enlightning people regarding the grave danger that the world, and our country, in particular, is in.

2nd November
Girls from class 11 represented Nasr School in the 'Eco-Mela'. Several eco-friendly items like candles made of egg shells, files of eco-friendly papers, bags out of shirts were creatively made by the students of class 11 C.
 
           The mela was held at Nampally Grounds, organised by Sri Aurobindo International School. overall it was a good exposure as it helped in production of new items, active participation and exchange of information.
 
Activity 4:
1st - 3rd December
Rachana Kandula and Isha Kanaskar of class 11 were selected from Nasr School to represent their project 'LIGHTS OUT'at the 'Greening With Goethe' International Environment Youth Conference at Bangalore. Their project 'LIGHTS OUT' aimed to make energy greener by switching to renewable sources of energy and energy efficient devices. They turned in their posters and participated in the poster quiz. The highlight of the inaugration ceremony were speeches from famed and respected scientists. They were taken to their cluster 'energy and mobility' to give their presentation. 
 
           The closing ceremony took place on 3-12-12. The guest of honour was none other than Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. They met the chairman of IISC, the consulate General of Germany and the chairman of the Goethe Insitute.
